The main sources of energy for our refineries are gas and fuel derived from the crude oil feedstock, supplemented by methane, electricity and steam.

Our refineries and associated petrochemical units are fully integrated and use a single steam and power generation infrastructure at each refinery, consisting of power stations and long-term contracts with local utility companies. 

In addition, at Lavéra and Grangemouth, cogeneration units are operated by third parties and provide steam and electricity at a lower cost than traditional generation facilities.
